Urbana looking for submissions on King project

The City of Urbana is looking to the community to create a piece of art to honor the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.
The city is asking artists to submit a proposal for a sculpture or other artwork that would be placed in Martin Luther King Jr. Park, near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Fairview Avenue on the city's north side.
City Public Arts Coordinator Christina McClelland said the art would make the park complete and give visitors an extra reason to stop by.

McClelland said King's likeness can't be used in the artwork; otherwise the city would have to pay a large fee to the King Foundation. But she said the project should honor the legacy of King's work and ideas.
