Gifford to hold harvest bazaar
GIFFORD — The village will hold its annual harvest bazaar Saturday with events ranging from horseback rides to a Halloween costume contest to a karaoke contest.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the area around Gifford State Bank.
"This is our second annual one," said Mary Sutherlin, an organizer for the event.
She said it was decided to enlarge the harvest bazaar instead of holding a Christmas event, which was hampered by bad weather last year.
"Plus the kids don't have a whole lot to do for Halloween," she said.
A car show will feature several racing cars as well as vintage vehicles.
The day will also include children's games, horseback rides and a pumpkin-decorating contest.
The children's games include the fishing pole contest, bean bag toss and similar fare.
Food will be for sale beginning at 11 a.m., sponsored by the Gifford Chamber of Commerce.
A beer tent sponsored by Angie's Homestead will be set up from noon to 4 p.m. on the parking lot of Hometowne Travel.
A cake walk fundraiser for the Gifford eighth-grade class will be held from noon to 1 p.m. There will also be a bake sale in conjunction with the cake walk.
A Halloween costume contest will be begin at noon.
The Gifford Voice, a karaoke contest, will be held from 1 to 5 p.m.
