Gina Myrick first started a Christian bookstore at her church, and now she's in business at a retail store of her own called Gathering Place Christian Bookstore at 308 N. First St., C.

Myrick said she is selling Christian books, gift items and greeting cards and also plans to have a small coffee bar.

Myrick said she first operated a smaller version of the store to serve church members at Deliverance Temple Apostolic Church and decided to expand it as a business.

Store hours are 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

New moving option available

A new Two Men and a Truck franchise is now operating in Champaign.

A moving company based in Lansing, Mich., Two Men and a Truck has more than 200 locations nationwide. The Champaign service, operated by Rene and Dan Shunk of Champaign, is at 828 Pioneer St. and serves both residential and business moves.

Rene Shunk said she and her husband are both University of Illinois graduates in agricultural engineering and recently completed their training for Two Men and a Truck in Michigan.

The moving service operates 26-foot box vans and charges by the hour for local moves and by weight and distance for moves over 35 miles.

Business fundraisers

Curves for Women fitness centers in the area are raising money for the new Mills Breast Cancer Institute on the Carle Foundation Hospital and Carle Clinic campus in Urbana.

A fundraising event is set for 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Conference Center, 1001 Killarney St., U. Tickets are on sale for $5 at the Urbana, Champaign, Savoy and St. Joseph Curves locations.

Urbana Curves owner Brenda Stoltzfus said the event will include guest speakers, a silent auction, prizes, free food and information about how to get a breast self-exam kit. Prizes include chances to win a free 30-day Curves membership, and current members have a chance to win a free one-year membership, she said.

Another fundraiser for the Mills institute: The quilt that's been on display at Sew Sassy in Urbana has raised $515 for the Mills Breast Cancer Institute. It was made by customers who each paid $5 for a block kit. The quilt was then raffled off.

The check went to Carle, and the quilt was given to the winner this past week, according to Sew Sassy owners Nancy Muncaster and Joyce Day.

Doughnut chain on a roll

Dunkin' Donuts isn't quite finished adding new locations in the Champaign-Urbana area. The company says it's looking for franchisees to open more of its coffee and baked goods shops in Champaign County as well as in Macon, Sangamon, Christian, Coles, Effingham and Iroquois counties.

The company says it thinks the Champaign-Decatur area can support 10 Dunkin' Donuts shops, and it's looking for new or existing franchisees to own and operate a minimum of five new restaurants in the area.

The Dunkin' Donuts chain has more than 7,900 locations worldwide, and adding more locations in the Champaign area is part of a national expansion campaign that has been under way since 2006, the company said.

Plans to move

Kent Weeks, owner of C-U Maintenance and Chambana Sales, plans to move both businesses from 705 W. Marketview Drive, C, to a new, larger facility at 3310 N. Mattis Ave., C., early next year.

Chambana is a light truck equipment and trailer sales operation in business since 1978, and C-U Maintenance, a commercial building maintenance contractor, has been operating since 1985.

Weeks said the businesses outgrew their current space on Marketview, and he may sell the property to a developer.
