If your dream is to run a hot dog joint, here's your chance.

The Galardi Group, which runs the California-based hot-dog chain Wienerschnitzel, is looking for a local franchisee for the restaurant in west Champaign.

The previous local operator closed the Champaign business "due to unrelated personal problems," according to Bob Mathews of the Galardi Group.

The group is now seeking a new franchisee to take over the restaurant and reopen it. No reopening date has been set yet.

"We also believe this market should remain successful for the new franchisee, and we think expansion in the near future is possible," Mathews wrote to The News-Gazette.

Wienerschnitzel's locations are mostly in the western United States.

Payless Shoes

Payless ShoeSource at 2002 N. Prospect Ave., has closed, temporarily, for "cleaning construction," according to a sign posted in its window. A company spokeswoman declined to comment or offer details about what looks like a possible remodeling. In the meantime, the Payless store in the Sears wing of Market Place Mall, 2000 N. Neil St., remains open.

Payless is owned by Collective Brands.

Hair care at home

Put the baby down for a nap and treat yourself to a pedi or mani.

Lesley Mitchell of Champaign has launched Mobile Image, a business that focuses on providing hair and beauty services to women and children at their homes.

A graduate of the Regency Beauty Institute in Champaign, Mitchell brings all the supplies to your house and does cuts, colors, manicures and pedicures. Eventually she plans to offer facials, too.

"I thought it would be convenient for people with small children, people with busy schedules or the elderly," Mitchell said.

She recently returned from a hair show in Chicago and was brought up to speed on funky new haircuts (asymmetrical, angled bobs, stacked bob, long layering) , foil placements and new volumizing techniques.

Mitchell will visit homes in Champaign County and can be reached at 355-2605.

Decks and more

Jamey Schurvinske has been building decks in the area for about 15 years, and throughout that time he has found himself working more and more on home remodeling projects. Thus he has renamed his business Precision Decks and General Contracting.

He finishes basements, installs siding and windows and can handle other general construction projects in central Illinois.

A member of the Better Business Bureau and Home Builders Association of East Central Illinois, Schurvinske can be reached at www.precisiondeckscu.com, 417-4573 or 355-7072.

Green biz

Plumber Kevin Cook has started a new venture called Green Technologies, www.greenchampaign.com, which works on ways to reduce energy costs for businesses.

His company is an affiliate of EASI Corp., which engineers products that can improve the efficiencies of electrical systems such as air conditioning, lighting and refrigeration systems, Cook said.
