Cetis to expand staff in Champaign

CHAMPAIGN — Cetis Inc. plans to expand its staff in Champaign from 15 to 20, said John Grubb, the company's vice president of sales and marketing.

The company, which supplies hotels and other businesses with customized phones, has an office at 3362 Big Pine Trail, C.

That office handles marketing, outside sales, accounting and engineering, according to Grubb.

The new jobs involve sales, marketing, web development and support staffing, he said.

The expansion is driven partly by construction of new hotels in China, Russia, Turkey, Indonesia and the Middle East, Grubb said. But the company also needs people to support North American sales.

The company seeks not only English speakers, but also native speakers of other languages to assist the overseas sales team, he said.

"Present Cetis staff, for example, speak English, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese as first languages in support of Cetis products throughout the world," Grubb said.

Cetis sells phones under the Scitec, TeleMatrix and Teledex brands.

Bing Sun, the president and chief executive officer of Cetis, founded Scitec Inc. in Champaign-Urbana in 1993. Today he lives in southern California, and the Cetis corporate office is in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Cetis also maintains office and warehouse facilities in Beijing, London, Dubai, Singapore and Mumbai, India.
