It's Your Business: Kohl's to open new Danville store Wednesday
For new retail openings in East Central Illinois this week, it's hard to get bigger than the opening of the new Kohl's store in Danville.
The 56,000-square-foot store at 3707 N. Vermilion St. has a ribbon-cutting at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, followed by the official opening at 8 a.m.
Andrew Immormino is manager of the store, which will employ 105. It's the 66th Kohl's store to open in Illinois.
What's different about this one? The company said several departments — juniors, intimates, jewelry, children's, footwear and home — use a new design.
And yes, Kohl's offers in-store Wi-Fi.
Salon coming to Round Barn
Watch for Just Be Salon to open soon at Round Barn Centre, in the space at 403 S. Mattis Ave., C.
That's the new salon being launched by Danny Pierce, who has been a professional hair stylist and colorist in Champaign-Urbana since 2001.
That space was most recently occupied by Studio 9 Hair Design, which last year moved to 701 Devonshire Drive, C.
Casey's in new spot
The new Casey's General Store at 2100 E. University Ave., U, has opened, replacing the old store just to the east.
The new location features a made-to-order submarine-sandwich counter, an expanded coffee bar and a "beer cave." There's also seating for customers in the 4,200-square-foot store.
"Our original store has been in Urbana since the late 1980s, and we have had a great partnership with the community since then," Bill Walljasper, the company's chief financial officer, said in a release.
The new store is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Its phone number is 328-0505.

From Pickle Tree to pets
Stephanie Henry, correspondent for the Mahomet Citizen, reports that Dr. Joella Koss will move her veterinary practice, All About Animals Pet Clinic, to the former Pickle Tree Farm restaurant site in Mahomet.
Koss said that she plans to move the clinic, now at 2012 Tin Cup Road, to the much-larger location at 305 S. Prairieview Road by May 1.
The clinic plans to add services such as doggy day care, on-site grooming, retail pet products and boarding.
Koss said she expects to keep the rustic look of the building and has already had all the hardwood floors refinished.
