Firehouse Pizza opens

CHAMPAIGN — Firehouse Pizza plans to open this evening (Tuesday, May 7) in the former Zelma's space at 1103 W. Windsor Road, C, according to co-owner Erik Perkins.

The restaurant chain, which got its start in the Peoria area, has three types of crust: thin crust, New York hand-tossed and deep-dish.

Its menu also includes sandwiches, pasta bowls, bread sticks, garlic bread and a variety of appetizers, as well as beer and wine.

Hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The restaurant offers dine-in, carry-out and delivery options.

Perkins and his partner, Marcus Hazel and Edward Flores, operate three other Firehouse Pizza locations in Illinois — at Washington, Morton and Normal.

Other owners operate Firehouse Pizza locations in Peoria, East Peoria and Quincy.

The local phone number is 355-1911, and the website is http://www.firehousepizza911.com.

I drove by yesterday and the banner hung on the facade said "Station 6", I think this is so as not to clash with Firehaus on campus.
