Meijer will host event for job applicants

DANVILLE — Meijer is hosting a job application event next week as it continues to hire for the more than 300 positions at its new store in Danville that's slated to open this fall.

Meijer is doing interviews and still taking applications for positions in all departments, including clerks, cake decorators, customer service representatives, cashiers, meat cutters and more. The 190,000 square-foot store is scheduled to open in November.

Applicants may apply online at meijer.com/careers, but can also get in-person assistance with the application process next week when Meijer co-hosts a job application event at the Illinois Department of Employment Security facility, 407 N Franklin St., Danville.

Joe Hirschmugl with Meijer said the event is an opportunity for interested applicants to get help starting the application process. He said Meijer officials will be calling applicants for interviews later.

Meijer, a Grand Rapids, Mich.-based retailer, operates 203 supercenters and grocery stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.
