Recycling business sets grand opening

URBANA — Advantage Recycling will have its grand opening from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at 3008 N. Cunningham Ave., U.

Refreshments will be served, tote bags will be given away and guests will have the opportunity to win gasoline gift cards and University of Illinois football tickets.

Advantage Recycling, a division of Mervis Industries, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

The facility pays for almost any scrap metal, including appliances, vehicles, aluminum cans, aluminum siding, tubing and wire.

It also accepts cardboard, certain plastics and electronics, but not cathode ray tubes. A list of accepted items is on the Advantage Recycling website, mervisadvantage.com.

Adam Mervis, president and CEO of Mervis Industries, said an indoor drive-through at the Urbana facility makes recycling more convenient for families and community groups, as well as business and industrial recyclers.
