It's the season to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables from the area, and the "Illinois: Where Fresh Is" website makes finding them a little easier.
The website — illinoiswherefreshis.com — lists the Illinois farmers' markets, roadside stands, U-pick fields/orchards and on-farm sales closest to you.
As of last week, the site listed five farmers' markets in East Central Illinois, including:
— Urbana's Market at the Square, open 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays.
— Arthur Produce Auction (specializing in large-quantity sales), open 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Fridays.
— Downs Village Market, open 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays.
— Mattoon Farmers Market, open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays.
— Monticello Main Street Farmers Market, open 3 to 6 p.m. Thursdays, beginning June 19.
