Today's Special: Panera Bread launches delivery service

CHAMPAIGN — Panera Bread has launched its own delivery service.

Colin Balsbaugh, manager of the location at 1765 W. Kirby Ave., C, in the Old Farm Shops, said the eatery now offers home or office delivery at his location and at ones at 616 E. Green St. in Campustown and 1903 Convenience Place near Market Place Shopping Center.

The fast-casual chain, known for it fresh baked bread, soups and sandwiches, has been rolling out delivery throughout the country.

"We're excited to offer this new convenience to our guests," Balsbaugh said. "Panera delivery makes it easy to enjoy your favorite soup, salad or sandwich at your home or office on days when it's not convenient to make it here."

Orders must be placed online using either the website or the company's mobile app.

"The minimum order for delivery is $5, and we have a flat $3 delivery fee no matter how big the order," Balsbaugh said.

However, he said the business is only delivering to sites within eight minutes of a location. It created delivery zones by mapping out an eight-minute average drive time.

"So we cover most of Champaign, but some of Savoy is left out," Balsbaugh said.
