Today's Special | Einstein Bros. holds grand opening for Armory location

CHAMPAIGN — Einstein Bros. Bagels held a grand opening Friday for its newest restaurant on the University of Illinois campus.

Einstein Bros. is now open in the center of the UI Armory on the north side, off the main walkway.

Central Illinois franchisee Marc Bralts said he selected the location because "it is a very active building with many classrooms, athletic activities and University of Illinois military offices."

Bralts said the two main Einstein Bros. stores are at Lincoln and University avenues in Urbana and on Anthony Drive, just off North Prospect Avenue, in Champaign.

With the opening of the Armory site, Einstein Bros. now has five restaurants at the UI: at the Illini Union, Siebel Center, the VetMed Basic Sciences Building, Willard Airport and the Armory.

"We offer our daily fresh-baked bagels and sweets, grab-and-go salads and sandwiches and made-to-order espresso drinks, coffee and tea," Bralts said.
