It's Your Business: New clothing store debuts this month in Champaign
J Huett's, a new menswear and women's clothing store, will open later this month in Champaign.
"It will be a full-service store," said owner John Huett, who has managed other men's clothing stores, such as Bachrach and Jos. Kuhn & Co., in Champaign.
Huett is also known locally as being a member of the 1969-70 Urbana High School basketball team, which still holds the record for the most wins in a season. His partner in the business is his wife, Anita Huett.
Huett plans to open the store, at 301 Bloomington Road, on June 19. It is in the building that previously housed the Wonder Bread/Hostess outlet. The bread store relocated in 2008 to Pioneer Plaza at Prospect and Bloomington roads.
J Huett's will stock business attire, including custom shirts, church wear and casual clothing. He also plans to sell tuxedos.
"Instead of people renting tuxedos for $100, I encourage people to buy them for not much more," he said.
The store will also feature women's clothing. Huett said he chose to include women's wear because over the years, many girlfriends and wives of his customers asked him to find clothes for them as well.
The store will carry sizes ranging from petite to plus for women, and men's sizes from 38 short to 62 extra long. Customers will also be able to order directly from catalogs.
In addition to clothes, J Huett's will carry fashion hats, bags and purses, wallets and shoes for men and women.
"The community needed a place like this," Huett said, adding he has a strong following among ministers in town and the University of Illinois coaching staff.
"I love the space here. I will have it tastefully set up for customers," he said.
"Look at these windows," he said, referring to the almost floor-to-ceiling windows facing the intersection of Bradley Avenue, Bloomington Road, State Street and Garden Lane. The 2,500-square-foot store also will have men's and women's dressing rooms.
The store will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and it can be reached at 355-0260 and http://www.jhuett.com.
Furniture Lounge shifts gears
The mid-century and modern furniture consignment store Furniture Lounge, 126 W. Main St., is moving from downtown Urbana to St. Joseph.
Co-owner Scott Schaub said the business will focus more on Internet sales. The store's website, http://www.furniturelounge.net, will be expanded.
"It's going to be not only retail space but also storage and warehouse space for us," Schaub said.
The new location will be at 225 E. Lincoln St. in St. Joseph, a few doors down from El Toro restaurant. It will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.
Furniture Lounge moved to downtown Urbana from downtown Champaign in 2008.
"We hope to still maintain the customer base we have in Urbana, but also expand the reach of our retail environment," he said.
Schaub said he anticipates leaving Urbana in late July and reopening Aug. 1. The new phone will be 418-5388.
Physical therapy biz moves
AthletiCo Physical and Occupational Therapy has relocated to 2040 S. Neil St., C, in Hillcrest Center across from the Worden-Martin car dealership.
The center will continue to be managed by Rebecca Nef-Heffernan, who has been a practicing physical therapist in the Champaign-Urbana area for 18 years.
AthletiCo offers physical therapy, orthopedic rehabilitation, sports medicine, work rehabilitation and athletic training outreach.
The business previously leased space within an orthopedic group's offices at 1405 W. Park St., U.
"We're now our own freestanding clinic." Nef-Heffernan said.

New Redbox location
Speaking of watching movies, Redbox, the red automated DVD rental kiosk company, recently added a new location at Walgreens, 104 N. Lombard St. in Mahomet.
