It's Your Business: Champaign music school doubles space

The Champaign School of Music has moved to a new, larger location in Champaign.

The school was formerly at 1006 W. Anthony Drive, inside Samuel Music, and is now at 27 E. Marketview Drive, right next to The Music Shoppe and near the TJ Maxx store.

Holly Hutber, the school's director, said the school had grown as much as it could in the space it had.

It now has double that space, with larger lesson rooms and a comfortable waiting area, and will be offering lessons through 9 p.m., Hutber said.

The school offers lessons to kids and adults of all ages in voice, piano, strings, woodwinds and brass instruments and is also adding percussion lessons.

Now open

Jack's Grill and Mediterranean Cuisine has opened at 705 N. Neil St., C., in a new building across from the downtown post office.

It's open for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

There are two menus, Mediterranean and more typical American. Some of the Mediterranean dishes include kabobs, a marinated steak and lamb in a pita and falafel sandwiches. On the American menu are chicken wings, fries, Philly cheesesteak, cheeseburgers, Italian beef and chicken sandwiches, said Munther Abdeljawad, one of the owners along with his dad, Mayes "Jack" Abdeljawad.

There is limited dine-in space and carryout is available, he said. Orders can be phoned in at 355-0599.

Sandella's Flatbread Cafe opened this past week at 700 S. Gregory St., U.

Sandella's is part of a chain of about 125 restaurants. The Urbana franchise is in the Gregory Place East development that also includes luxury apartments and retail and office space.

Sandella's specializes in a variety of grilled flatbread sandwiches and wraps.

Hours are 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to midnight Sunday.

New owner

Pasha Mediterranean Cuisine at 2506 Village Green Place, C, is under new ownership.

Arzu Yaman, the new owner, is bringing in a new menu but leaving the decor and hours the same for now at the restaurant located in Village at the Crossing, at the corner of Windsor and Duncan roads.

Yaman said the cuisine will be a mix of Greek, Turkish and Italian foods, each prepared by chefs from those regions, and she plans to specialize in imported Mediterranean fish. She will also offer a dinner buffet on Monday and Tuesday and will have lunch specials on weekdays, she said.

Yaman formerly worked for Mezzaluna, another restaurant at the same shopping and office complex.

The restaurant is already open under its new ownership, but a grand opening is planned for Feb. 20.

New hours

Sun Singer Wine & Spirits at 1115 W. Windsor Road, C, has extended its hours on Sundays, and is now open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
