Paxton teen faces knife, trespassing charges
PAXTON – A Paxton teen is being held in the Ford County jail on an unlawful weapons charge for having a knife on him while trespassing at the Paxton-Buckley-Loda High School.
Richard J. March, 17, is being held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing March 10 in Ford County on the weapons and trespassing charges.
Paxton police responded to a call from high school officials around 3 p.m. Monday after March was seen on school grounds by the principal, according to Paxton Police Chief Bob Bane. March, who had been banned from the property, left the high school after speaking with the principal, Bane said.
School officials removed a knife from March before police arrived, Bane said. State's Attorney Tony Lee said it was a 4-inch fixed-blade knife.
PBL Superintendent Cliff McClure said March is no longer a student at PBL High School, and McClure added that no threat was made with the knife.
March had also been arrested Feb. 7 for breaking into an unoccupied apartment in Paxton, Bane said.
