DANVILLE – A teacher at the Danville Christian Academy faces criminal charges for allegedly having sex with a student from February 2008 to August 2009.

Mark R. List, 34, who listed an address in the 700 block of Perrysville, on Friday was charged in Vermilion County Circuit Court with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony.

List also was charged with one count of criminal sexual assault-position of trust, a Class 1 felony, and one count of indecent solicitation of a child, a Class 3 felony.

Danville Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason said police detectives were called to the Danville Christian Academy, 428 N. Walnut, on Wednesday at about 10:30 a.m. in response to allegations of abuse involving a staff member and a 17-year-old male student.

Prosecutors accuse List of having sex with a minor on or about Feb. 2, 2008, through Aug. 1, 2009.

At an initial hearing, List pleaded innocent to the charges.

His preliminary hearing was scheduled for Feb. 11.

List is free from the Vermilion County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
