RANTOUL — A Champaign man remained in critical condition Tuesday after a car wreck on Sunday night.
James Kauffman, 43, was listed in critical condition Monday at Carle Foundation Hospital from injuries suffered when his car crashed on U.S. 136.
State police reported Kauffman was driving a Chevy Lumina east on U.S. 136 near the intersection at Champaign County Road 1100 E at 10:51 p.m. Sunday.
Kauffman’s car crossed the road and the north shoulder, the report said. The car then careened off a culvert and the front of the car struck a large tree.
Kauffman was extricated from the car and taken to Carle. He was ticketed for driving under the influence of alcohol, state police report.
