Two people arrested on charges of armed violence
URBANA — An Evanston man and a Louisiana woman pleaded innocent Monday afternoon to felony charges of armed violence.
Champaign County Assistant State’s Attorney Scott Larson said police officers pulled over a car being driven by Darrell Patterson, of Evanston at the corner of Mattis Avenue and Interstate Drive at 11:41 p.m. Sunday for failing to signal.
When they searched, police found about seven ounces of marijuana hidden inside a white stuffed animal, Larson said.
Police also found a .38-caliber revolver in the car, Larson said.
Patterson, 23, and passenger Michelle L. David, 21, who listed an address in Boutte, La., pleaded innocent Monday to felony armed violence for possessing the revolver while unlawfully possessing between 30 and 500 grams of marijuana.
Judge John Kennedy set Patterson’s bond at $125,000 and David’s at $75,000. Kennedy denied a request by each of them to be allowed to leave the state and set their next court date for May 4.
