Villa Grove man released from jail after posting bond
VILLA GROVE — A Villa Grove man was released from the Douglas County Jail after posting 10 percent of a $25,000 bond on Sunday following charges that he sold cocaine to a police informant.
Kalen M. Fonner, 30, who listed an address in the 400 block of Church Street, Villa Grove, pleaded innocent to five counts of delivery of a controlled substance and one count of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, according to Douglas County State’s Attorney Kevin Nolan.
Villa Grove police arrested Fonner at his job at the Four-Way Stop at 102 E. Harrison St., Villa Grove, at about 9:50 p.m. Friday, according to a police report.
Villa Grove Police Chief Dennis Gire said he had a warrant for Fonner’s arrest for delivery of a controlled substance in connection with an earlier sale to a source working with police.
After arresting him, police served search warrants at the restaurant and Fonner’s home. At the house, police found marijuana, cocaine and other items to indicate Fonner was selling drugs, Gire said.
When Fonner was arrested, police found a small amount of a substance on him that tested positive for cocaine, Gire said.
