Accused robber due back in court in August

URBANA – A Champaign man accused of robbing a woman in Urbana early Tuesday is due back in court next month.
Joe Lewis, 47, who listed an address in the 800 block of South State Street, was charged Tuesday in Champaign County Circuit Court with robbery.
An Urbana police report said Lewis took money from a 51-year-old woman in the 800 block of North Lincoln Avenue about 1:40 a.m. Tuesday. The report said the woman identified him.
Judge John Kennedy set Lewis' bond at $30,000 and ordered him to be back in court Aug. 31.
Kennedy advised Lewis that, because of prior convictions, if he's convicted of the robbery, he faces a mandatory prison term.
