Urbana police look for 4 who robbed residents in their home
URBANA – Urbana police are looking for four young men who forced their way into an apartment at gunpoint Tuesday night and robbed the residents.
Urbana police Lt. Bryant Serapin said a 40-year-old woman was sitting on her couch in the 1700 block of East Colorado Avenue about 10 p.m. Tuesday when two men approached the sliding glass door to her patio. They demanded that she open the door and threatened to shoot her through the glass if she didn't. Fearing she might be shot, she opened the sliding door then opened the front door as ordered to let in the other two men.
Seraphin said two of the men had guns and three of the four had their faces partially covered with cloth.
One man held the woman and her 15-year-old nephew in the living room while the other three ransacked the home.
They stole two laptop computers, two cell phones, wallet, an electronic violin, and a camera, with a total value of just over $4,000, Seraphin said.
Seraphin said the victims were not physically harmed. Descriptions of the four were incomplete.
Anyone with information is urged to call the Urbana police department at 384-2320 or Crimestoppers at 373-8477.
