Bond at $50,000 in armed robbery case
URBANA – Bond has been set at $50,000 for an Urbana man arrested Friday night in connection with an armed robbery.
Sammy Boykins, 17, who listed an address in the 2700 block of East Illinois Street, Urbana, pleaded innocent Monday to two counts of felony armed robbery.
According to a police report, a 26-year-old Urbana man and an 18-year-old Urbana man reported being robbed at gunpoint in a parking lot in the 1500 block of East Washington Street, Urbana, at 10:45 p.m. Friday. The robber took cash, a cell phone and video accessories.
Police said they found a man matching the description provided by the victims at Hessel Park in Champaign and arrested Boykins.
According to the report, the stolen property was found on Boykins, and a handgun was found nearby.
Judge John Kennedy set Boykins' next court appearance for Oct. 19.
