Georgetown teen hurt in wreck
WESTVILLE – A Georgetown teen was hospitalized on Monday after crashing his pickup truck into a house in Westville.
Seventeen-year-old Ryan Lucas was ticketed for driving under the influence in connection with the incident, and authorities are still investigating, said Capt. Dennis Wood of the Vermilion County Sheriff's Department.
Wood said at 9:21 p.m., authorities were notified that a 2001 Chevrolet truck hit a house in the 1800 block of South Street. Witnesses reported seeing the truck heading south on State Street, which is also Illinois 1, when it crossed over several lanes of traffic, went through a yard and hit the house.
Westville Ambulance personnel had to extricate Lucas from the truck, Wood said. He said the teen sustained several broken bones. He was taken to Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, then later transferred to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Wood did not have the name of the property owners but said no one inside the home was injured.
Damage estimates were not available.
