Water-main break partially closes Mattis Avenue
|
CHAMPAIGN – Mattis Avenue is partly reopened between Bradley Avenue and Bloomington Road in Champaign.
A water main break at the intersection of Mattis and Anita Drive has caused sinkholes to form in the road.
A city news release says Illinois American Water and city workers are on the scene.
The two southbound lanes have reopened, and a center lane is being used as a northbound lane, according to Tom Schuh, operations manager for the city's public works department. He said he expected a second northbound lane would be available Wednesday.
