Police seek man in home invasion from 2008
CHAMPAIGN – Police want help finding a man involved in a home invasion in Champaign that happened more than two years ago.
On Dec. 5, 2008, three men wearing Halloween or clown masks and carrying guns ran into a home in the 200 block of East Hill Street about 1 a.m. and robbed the people there of cigarettes, money and cell phones.
Champaign police detective Don Shepard said a fourth man knocked on the door and asked for someone there. When the teen who answered went to get the person, the three other men ran in past the knocker, who then left.
Shepard said there were three adults, two teens and a baby in the home.
One of the masked men fired a single shot. An empty shell casing was found on the floor near where the round lodged in a wall. No one was hit by the gunfire, although Shepard said a small girl was on the other side of that wall. One of the robbers hit an adult male in the head with a gun.
In March 2010, police obtained arrest warrants for four men charging them with home invasion.
Three have been picked up and are awaiting trial.
Shepard said he needs the public's help finding the fourth, Dontrail Wright, 26, whose last known address was in the 2500 block of West Springfield Avenue in Champaign.
