Man faces armed violence charge
URBANA – A Champaign man accused of possessing cocaine and a loaded gun has been charged with armed violence and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
An Urbana police report said police officers served a search warrant at a home in the 2400 block of North Neil Street at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
While they were there, Leonard Mann, 22, who listed an address in the 800 block of North Prairie Street, showed up.
Police found a loaded gun and about 18.6 grams crack cocaine in the apartment, which Mann admitted was his.
The armed violence charge, the more serious of the two counts, is a Class X felony carrying penalties ranging from six to 30 years in prison upon conviction.
Judge John Kennedy set bond for Mann at $100,000 and ordered him to be back in court March 3 with a lawyer.
