Arcola man arrested for sexual abuse
TUSCOLA – An Arcola man was arrested on Thursday for aggravated criminal sexual abuse and the indecent solicitation of a child.
According to a police report, on Jan. 26 the Douglas County sheriff's office asked for help from the state police with the investigation of reported sexual offenses involving multiple juvenile victims within the county.
Reichel B. Fiala, 69, who listed an address in Arcola, was arrested during a traffic stop in Arthur on Thursday after an arrest warrant was issued for four counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of indecent solicitation of a child.
Douglas County Sheriff Charlie McGrew declined to say how many children were involved or to provide their ages.
If Fiala is convicted of the most serious charge, he could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
McGrew said Fiala was taken to the Douglas County Jail, where he was released after he posted 10 percent of a $20,000 bond.
McGrew said Fiala's next scheduled court appearance was set for April 4.
