Danville man dies after SUV crash

WESTVILLE A Danville man has died as a result of injuries he received in a single-vehicle accident south of Danville early Wednesday.

Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson said William Blackford, 31, was pronounced dead at 3:31 a.m. at the crash scene.

Johnson said Mr. Blackford was thrown from a sport utility vehicle involved in the crash on Grape Creek Road near the intersection with Twin Hills Road.

Vermilion County sheriff's Capt. Dennis Wood said the accident remains under investigation and deputies are not certain who the driver was, but the vehicle's registered owner was Mr. Blackford.

The other man in the SUV was Brandon Neace, 27, who was taken to Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
