Autopsy Friday in motorcycle crash
ANCHOR -- An autopsy is scheduled for Friday morning to confirm the cause of death of a Gibson City man killed in a motorcycle accident Wednesday.
Ford County Coroner Doug Wallace said William T. "Tony" Denney, 66, was pronounced dead at 5:07 p.m. Wednesday in the emergency room at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City.
Wallace said Mr. Denney was riding a 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle west on Illinois 165 near McLean County Road 3800 East, less than a mile east of Anchor, when he lost control on a curve in the road. Mr. Denney was thrown from the motorcycle as it slid into a ditch, Wallace said.
No other vehicles were involved, Wallace said.
Wallace said he did not know exactly what time the accident occurred but said an ambulance arrived at 4:52 p.m.
State police from Pontiac investigated the accident, Wallace said. A state police accident reconstructionist also came to the scene, Wallace said.
Wallace said an autopsy will be performed Friday morning. Wallace said it is standard procedure in Ford County to perform autopsies on the victims of fatal accidents.
