Urbana man arraigned on drug charge

URBANA -- An Urbana man who police said possessed cocaine in an apartment in that city is due back in court May 31.

Kendrick Rodgers, 19, who listed an address in the 900 block of East Colorado Avenue, was arrested about 9 a.m. Thursday by Urbana police, who went to the apartment with a search warrant.

A report said they found about 2.5 grams of crack and powder cocaine packaged in separate bags.

Rodgers admitted to police that he possessed and sold the drugs in the past, the report said.

He was charged Friday with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, a Class 1 felony carrying penalties of up to 15 years in prison upon conviction. Judge John Kennedy set his bond at $25,000 and ordered him to be back in court May 31.

Police also arrested Jamika Rodgers, 18, at the East Colorado address on an outstanding warrant for a theft that allegedly occurred in September 2010. She's being held on $10,000 bond and was also told to be back in court May 31.
