Man sentenced to prison in cocaine case

TUSCOLA -- A Danville man who admitted selling cocaine in Villa Grove has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Douglas County State's Attorney Kevin Nolan said Tyrone Wilson, 51, pleaded guilty last week to delivery of a controlled substance, admitting that on Sept. 8, he sold about 3 grams of crack cocaine in Villa Grove.

Wilson and co-defendant, Jerome Harris, 26, also of Danville, were arrested in Villa Grove on Sept. 22 by the East Central Illinois Task Force. At the time, police found alleged cocaine in the car they were in.

Harris was charged earlier this month in Vermilion County Circuit Court with murder in connection with the March 2007 shooting deaths of three people.

Nolan said he dismissed the drug charges in Douglas County against Harris, saying he didn't believe he could prove that the drugs were his.

Nolan said Wilson had prior criminal convictions that made him eligible for sentencing as a Class X felon to between six and 30 years in prison.
