Man charged in case involving woman, police officer

URBANA -- Bond has been set at $15,000 for an Urbana man arrested for aggravated battery after he allegedly shoved a female Urbana police officer against a wall.

Brandon A. Stalling, 19, who listed an address in the 2400 block of Prairie Green Drive, Urbana, pleaded innocent on Wednesday to aggravated battery, criminal trespass to a residence and domestic battery.

According to a police report, police were called to Stalling's Prairie Green Drive apartment at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday after neighbors reported a domestic incident between Stallings and a 19-year-old woman.

\When officers arrived, the woman had a black and swollen left eye, a swollen right eye and scratch marks above the right eye, the report said.

Police said Stalling resisted when officers tried to arrest him and then attempted to leave the apartment. When Urbana police Officer Susanne Robinson stood in the door to prevent Stalling from leaving, he shoved her to the wall with both hands, ran out and ran inside a nearby apartment that had its door open without the permission of a 78-year-old woman who lived there, the report said.

Police arrested Stalling inside the second apartment.

Urbana police said on Wednesday afternoon that Robinson did not require medical treatment.

Judge John Kennedy ordered Stalling to have no contact with either woman or either apartment and set Stalling's next court appearance for June 21.
