Woman arrested after machete attack

CHAMPAIGN — A Champaign woman is being held at the Champaign County Jail on $25,000 bond following her arrest for allegedly cutting another woman with a machete.
Carla D. Mariner, 45, who listed an address in the 500 block of East Columbia Avenue, pleaded innocent Tuesday to aggravated battery.
According to a police report, Mariner allegedly cut a 46-year-old Champaign woman with a machete during an argument in the 500 block of East Columbia Avenue about 7:20 p.m. Monday.
Assistant Champaign County State's Attorney Steve Ziegler said the victim sustained a 2-inch cut to her upper left arm.
Judge John Kennedy ordered Mariner to have no contact with the victim and set Mariner's next court appearance for June 7.
