Woman treated and released after I-74 accident
CHAMPAIGN — A Bloomington woman was treated and released after a wreck Sunday afternoon that backed up traffic near the interchange of Interstates 57 and 74.
According to state police, Jennifer J. Gough, 37, of Bloomington, was taking the ramp from I-57 north onto I-74 west at about 4:50 p.m. Sunday when she lost control and hydroplaned across I-74.
A semitrailer driven by Kenneth J. Komperda, 58, of Indianapolis had to brake and swerve to avoid hitting Gough's vehicle, crashing into a wall of the interchange. Gough's vehicle continued spinning and hit the concrete wall in the median, then bounced back and stopped against the bridge wall.
Gough was treated and released at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. State police report says Komperda also was taken to Carle, but the hospital had no information on him Monday.
Gough was ticketed for improper lane usage.
The collision backed up traffic on I-74 for about two hours Sunday evening.
