Rantoul woman injured in tractor-car collision

RANTOUL -- A Rantoul woman was injured Wednesday evening when the tractor she was driving was hit from behind.
Buffi Bonelli, 30, of Rantoul, was listed in serious condition Thursday morning at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
Illinois State Police at Pesotum report she was thrown from the tractor she was driving north on U.S. 45 about a mile south of Rantoul when she was struck from behind by David Abernathy.
Abernathy, 30, of Rantoul, was in a car and was not injured, the report said. He was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident while Bonelli was ticketed for not having a slow-moving vehicle emblem on her tractor.
The accident happened at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
