Sidney man charged in sex assault case

URBANA — A Sidney man is being held at the Champaign County jail on $100,000 bond after he was charged with predatory criminal sexual assault.
Steven Williams, 49, who listed an address in Sidney, pleaded innocent on Wednesday to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.
According to a police report, Williams allegedly committed a sexual act with a girl under the age of 13 in his care in her bedroom in March and again in May.
Judge John Kennedy ordered Williams to have no contact with the victim and scheduled his next court appearance for July 26.
