Rantoul man faces charge over child porn
RANTOUL — A Rantoul man is expected to be formally charged Friday in Champaign County Circuit Court with possessing child pornography.
Rantoul police Sgt. Marcus Beach said his department, assisted by Urbana police, had been investigating Sean M. Kellem, 21, for several months.
They obtained search warrants for Kellem's home in the 100 block of East Sangamon Avenue and his mother's home on that same street, which they served about 7:30 a.m. Thursday before arresting Kellem.
Beach said police seized four computers from the two homes, some of which had videos and images of children engaged in sex acts. A forensic examination of the computers is still going on.
"He was downloading images and videos from the internet via file sharing programs," Beach said.
