Rantoul man arraigned on child porn charges

RANTOUL — A Rantoul man alleged to have possessed child pornography with the intent to disseminate it is due back in court in Champaign County on Aug. 2.

Sean M. Kellem, 21, was charged Friday with two counts of aggravated child pornography and two counts of child pornography. Because the children in the pictures are under the age of 13, the aggravated child pornography counts are a more serious Class X felony, carrying a mandatory prison term of six to 30 years upon conviction.

Rantoul police Sgt. Marcus Beach said his department and the Urbana Police Department had been investigating Kellem for several months. On Thursday, they served court-ordered search warrants at Kellem's home in the 100 block of East Sangamon Avenue and his mother's home on that same street. They seized four computers from the two homes, some of which had videos and images of children engaged in sex acts.

Judge Holly Clemons set Kellem's bond at $200,000.
