Sheriff's deputy treated, released after Crescent City accident
CRESCENT CITY — An Iroquois County sheriff's deputy was treated at a Watseka hospital for unspecified injuries following a collision Tuesday involving his squad car.
The accident occurred in Crescent City, near the intersection of Iroquois County roads 1500 East and 1700 North, at 1:48 p.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from state police, who investigated the accident.
The deputy, who was not identified in the release, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet squad car east on 1700 North when it was hit on its passenger-side front end by a northbound 1999 Ford passenger vehicle driven by Ronald M. Ahlden, 52, of Onarga.
The collision forced the deputy's car off of the road and into a cornfield, the release said.
The deputy was taken to Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka, and was treated and released, said state police spokesman Ryan Wilson. Wilson declined to provide the deputy's name.
Ahlden reported no injuries.
Wilson said an initial police report did not list any traffic tickets being issued.
