Two arrested for Urbana armed robbery; third man on run
URBANA -- Urbana police have arrested two men for an armed robbery that occurred in that city late Thursday and are looking for a third.
Sgt. Andy Hewkin said about 11 p.m., two men in a car at the intersection of Main Street and Cottage Grove Avenue where approached by three men, two of whom were armed with guns. The robbers took cell phones and cash from the victims, who had to go to a nearby gas station to call police.
Hewkin said about 35 minutes later, a Champaign County sheriff's deputy located a car believed to be involved in the holdup in the same general area where it had happened. Police arrested Donald Brown, 31, of the 2700 block of Willowpark Drive, Champaign.
After further investigation, they located Quantrell Walker, 26, at a home on Willowpark. Hewkin said Champaign police helped find Walker and get him in custody shortly after 1 a.m. Friday.
Hewkin said police recovered a handgun and some cash. They are still looking for the third robber.
