Business group official out in Urbana

URBANA — After being ticketed late last month for driving under the influence, Adam Yeazel is no longer the executive director of the Urbana Business Association.

Becky Weber, chairwoman of the association, confirmed on Thursday evening that Yeazel, who was ticketed for driving under the influence following a vehicle accident last month, was no longer serving as executive director.

Weber wouldn't say if Yeazel resigned, if he was fired or the reasons for his departure.

"All I can say is Adam is no longer the executive director," Weber said. "The UBA plans to keep moving forward as always."

Yeazel had served as executive director since October 2010. Weber said he departed earlier this month.

Weber said the UBA board plans to meet on July 28 to make plans for this year's Urbana Sweetcorn Festival and may discuss the executive director position then.

"We are not planning on having an interim director at this time," she said.

According to a sheriff's report, Yeazel, 37, who listed an address in Philo, was injured and ticketed for DUI when his vehicle hit and damaged a home about 1 a.m. on June 24 near the intersection of County Road 1100 North and Illinois Route 130.

When deputies and Philo firefighters responded, they found the driver, Yeazel, injured. He was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital and was ticketed for driving while under the influence, the report said.

Yeazel's next court appearance has been set for July 29.
