Man charged with car burglary

CHAMPAIGN — A homeless man accused of breaking into a car in Champaign late Tuesday or early Wednesday is due back in court next month.

Jumar Mockabee, 30, was charged Thursday with a single count of burglary for allegedly breaking into a car in the 0-100 block of East Green Street in Champaign.

Champaign police reports said Mockabee was located with an iPod belonging to the woman whose car had been entered.

Champaign police reported at least five vehicle burglaries that happened in a parking garage in the 0-100 block of East Green Street between late Tuesday and early Wednesday. Windows were damaged and cash, clothing and other small items were stolen.

Mockabee was told to be back in court Aug. 30.
