Help sought solving attack on 92-year-old woman in her own home
URBANA — Rantoul police want help solving a home invasion that happened last month.
About 12:30 a.m. on June 10, a 92-year-old woman living in the 200 block of Illinois Drive heard her doorbell ring several times.
She saw a man standing outside but did not answer the door. She went back to her bedroom and was attacked by the unknown man.
Police said he wrapped a pair of pants around her head and hit her several times in the face. She received minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital.
After attacking the woman, the intruder took cash and a flat-screen television before leaving the home.
Sgt. Marcus Beach said the woman apparently didn't hear the man forcing his way in through a locked door. She didn't report the attack for several hours.
