Urbana man on probation faces new drug charge
URBANA — An Urbana man on probation for possession of a controlled substance has been arrested for another drug-related offense.
Ricardo Hite, 57, who listed an address in the 1400 block of West Beardsley Avenue, was charged Friday in Champaign County Circuit Court with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He is alleged to have had about 2 grams of cocaine in 10 separate plastic bags at the West Beardsley address where he was staying with a relative.
Assistant State's Attorney Sarah Carlson said Urbana police conducted a court-ordered search Thursday and found the drugs in a room where Hite was staying.
Because Hite has two prior drug-related convictions, Carlson said he faces a nonprobationable prison term of up to 30 years if convicted of this offense.
In April 2010, Hite pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to probation. A petition to revoke that probation was filed in January and is apparently unresolved, according to court records.
Hey,shure glad wer goin aftyer those drug pushers, I would think the gangs with guns, who apparently arent too afraid to use them, aint being tracked down. we need right to carry. comon state of ill, give the LAW ABIDING CITISENS THE RIGHT TO CARRY AND DEFEND OURSELFS AND OUR FAMILY!
