Workers injured at Ikenberry Commons

CHAMPAIGN — Two electrical workers were injured Monday morning at a work site at the Ikenberry Commons complex on the University of Illinois campus.

Champaign Deputy Fire Chief Eric Mitchell said the workers were burned as a result of arcing of high-voltage electricity and were transported to a hospital.

The names of the workers and the extent of injuries have not been released.

The accident is believed to have occurred sometime before 8:45 a.m. today near the corner of Second Street and Gregory Drive in Champaign.
