Mattoon man faces child porn charges
URBANA — A Mattoon man is scheduled to go on trial in September on federal child pornography charges.
Christopher M. Ohm, 24, was ordered Tuesday to remain in custody. He was arrested July 18 after a grand jury indicted him for four counts of sending, two counts of receiving and two counts of possessing child pornography.
The indictment alleges that Ohm sent images of minor boys in sexually explicit conduct four times from 2006 to 2009, received images in January 2007 and possessed images in June 2007 and March 2011.
He is scheduled for trial on Sept. 26.
The charges follow an investigation by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Office of Homeland Security Investigations and members of the working group including the Mattoon Police Department.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
