Convicted bookkeeper ordered to pay back $213,000
URBANA — A Mahomet woman who admitted stealing from her former employer for years has been sentenced to probation and ordered to make hundreds of thousands of dollars in restitution.
Amy Glidewell-Law, 41, who listed an address in the 2400 block of Robin Road, Mahomet, pleaded guilty Tuesday before Champaign County Judge Harry Clem to theft over $10,000, admitting that between January 2008 and March 2010 when she was a bookkeeper for Cardinal Pool, 511 S. Country Fair Drive, C, she stole from the business.
Assistant State's Attorney Lindsey Clark said Glidewell-Law, using the business' credit cards and their bank accounts, paid off her mortgage, went on trips, and made multiple personal purchases such as a computer.
The original charges allege the theft went on between January 2006 to March 2010, when company officials found discrepancies in their credit card accounts.
As part of a negotiated plea agreement, Glidewell-Law was sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to make $213,281 in restitution.
