ST. JOSEPH — A rural Homer woman was airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana on Monday morning following a single-vehicle crash east of St. Joseph.

According to a Champaign County sheriff’s report, Aleese Hutcherson, 25, of rural Homer was driving a 2001 Pontiac westbound on U.S. 150 near the Glover overpass when her car left the highway to the north at 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Hutcherson overcorrected, and the car crossed the road, crashing on the south side, according to the report.

Carle had no information on Hutcherson’s condition.

There were no passengers.

Lt. Allen Jones of the Champaign County sheriff’s office said the crash remains under investigation.

No tickets had been issued as of Monday afternoon.

Seat belts save lives!

Yes they do! I think if this young girl was wearing a seatbelt, she would have been fine. The vehicle flipped, but landed right side up. If anyone hears how she is doing, please post!!! Such a sad story!

actually her not wearing her seatbelt is what saved her life, cause the car flipped an yes it landed right side up but if she had her seatbelt on then she wouldn't have lived. i went to highschool with this young lady. her best friend is my ex-gf and she talked to her around 8, she's doing fine, she walked a way with minor injuries and a few fractures thats it

Anyone who suggest that NOT wearing a seatbelt saved a person is ignorant. PERIOD. When cars flip and your not belted in, anything can happen... Like getting thrown from the car, bones broken, limbs crushed, etc. There is a reason its a law!

and to think that there was someone there doing the accident reconstruction aka a "forensic engineer" within minutes...IMPRESSIVE!

Glad she is doing well with her minor injuries. She's lucky!

I had a daughter in an accident and she walked away because she didn't have a seatbelt on. The lady who caused the accident was in the hospital for several days and she had a seatbelt on. My Aunt died because she had a seatbelt on and her husband walked not wearing a seatbelt away. If it is your time nothing will save you. The law of the seatbelt is wrong no matter how you look at it.

I walked away from my accident because of a seat belt. My head would have gone straight through the windshield, and I would have been dead without it. Ditto for the young lady who blew through a stop sign and hit me. Luckily she and her friend were wearing seat belts, or they would have been dead or seriously injured. Seat belts do save lives. I think there are more occasions of seat belts saving lives than not wearing one saving your life.
