UI police investigate robbery

URBANA — University of Illinois police are investigating a robbery Saturday morning in Urbana.

According to a police report, a man was walking between McKinley Health Center and the Illini Grove at 1:40 a.m. Saturday when he heard another man ask him what he was doing.

When the victim looked, he saw two other men standing in Illini Grove, and one of them asked the victim how much money he had on him.

The robber demanded that the victim give him money and told him, "Do not make this any more difficult than it has to be." The victim then gave the man his cash, the report said.

The robber told the victim to turn around and walk away and told the victim that he did not want to see any blue lights or hear any sirens.

The victim told police he did not see what direction the two men ran away. The victim was not injured, according to police.

The first robber was described as a black male between 25 and 30 years old; weighing about 180 pounds; and 6 feet, 2 inches tall. He has facial hair and was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

The second robber was described as a 40-year-old black male with salt-and-pepper hair and a grizzled beard. He was wearing a grey hoodie, blue jeans and white shoes.

Those with information about the incident are asked to call UI police at 333-1216.
