Urbana man held on sexual assault charge
URBANA — An Urbana man is being held at the Champaign County Jail on $75,000 bond after he was arrested in connection with the sexual assault of an Urbana woman.
Jesse Miller, 42, who listed an address in the 900 block of East Colorado Avenue, Urbana, pleaded innocent on Monday to aggravated criminal sexual assault.
If convicted, Miller could be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison.
According to an Urbana police report, Miller was at the home of a 38-year-old Urbana woman that he knew when he placed a butter knife near her throat while allegedly taking part in a sex act with her at about 1 a.m. Sunday.
Police arrested Miller after the woman reported the incident, the report said.
Judge John Kennedy ordered Miller to have no contact with the woman and set his next court appearance for Oct. 4.
